Baby milestone sessions take place in my professional Winnipeg photography studio and are carefully paced around your baby's needs.  Sessions are relaxed and always baby-led.

Whether your baby is just learning to sit or confidently exploring the world, I guide each session using gentle direction, professional studio lighting, and customized setups that keep the focus where it belongs, on your child.

Milestone sessions are available for babies 6-12 months old.

When to Schedule Baby Milestone Photos

Baby milestone photography is ideal during the key developmental stages, including:

- 6 to 8 months (sitting unassisted)

- 9-11 months (crawling or standing)

- 12 months (first birthday & cake smash)

For cake smash sessions, booking 4 weeks in advance is recommended to allow time for planning and ordering of the cake.

When should I book my baby’s milestone session?

I recommend booking your baby’s milestone session a month or two in advance, especially if you’re hoping for a specific date. Most milestone sessions take place when babies are sitting confidently (around 6-9 months) or just before their first birthday

What age is best for milestone photos?

The most popular ages are between 6 and 12 months. Around 6-8 months, babies are usually sitting independently, smiling, and full of personality. Around 9-12 months, many are crawling, standing, or taking those exciting first steps, creating even more opportunities for memorable portraits.

What should my baby wear?

Simple, timeless outfits photograph beautifully. Soft neutrals, creams, earthy tones, or gentle pastels keep the focus on your baby’s expressions. I also have a small selection of wraps, blankets, headbands, bonnets, and simple props available to complement your session.

Can parents, dog or siblings be included?

Absolutely! While milestone sessions focus primarily on your baby, you’re welcome to include a few family or sibling portraits at the beginning or end of the session.

Dogs are always welcome in my studio.

What if my baby is shy or fussy?

No worries at all. Babies have their own schedules, and I’ve photographed hundreds of little personalities over the years. We take our time, allow for snack or cuddle breaks if needed, and keep the session relaxed so your baby can settle in naturally.

Do you provide props?

Yes! My Winnipeg studio includes a curated collection of simple, timeless props, blankets, baskets, and seating designed specifically for babies. The goal is to create classic images that won’t feel dated years from now.

My private photography studio is located in St. Boniface, Winnipeg, making it easy for families throughout Winnipeg and the surrounding area to visit.

Do you offer first birthday or cake smash sessions?

Yes! If you’re celebrating your baby’s first birthday, I also offer dedicated cake smash sessions. If you’d prefer timeless portraits without the cake, a milestone session is a wonderful way to celebrate turning one.

Do you provide the cake for smash sessions?

I sure do. Once we are booked, I send a questionnaire to get your choice for cake colors. If there are any allergy concerns, I do ask that you provide your own cake and I deduct my cost from the session booking.
