If you know me at all, you know I treat pets like family.  Have I sent clients home to get their dog?  Yes! Whether you book an outdoor photo shoot right here in Winnipeg, or prefer studio portraits, dogs are always welcome.

  • Prepare Your Dog: Before the session, ensure your dog is well-exercised to expend excess energy. A tired dog is usually a more manageable dog during family photos with pets Winnipeg.
  • Bring Treats: Pack some favorite treats to reward your dog for good behavior. This can help in capturing those perfect moments during pet photography Winnipeg.
  • Use a Leash When Necessary: Even if your pet is well-trained, I will always recommend keeping a dog on leash, especially outdoors.  Safety is always my priority and removing a leash in editing is a simple fix.
  • Consult Your Photographer: Discuss any specific needs or poses you have for Winnipeg pet portraits with your photographer ahead of time.  Any tips you can give me are very helpful.
  • Bring Favorite Toys: A beloved toy can help grab your dog's attention and create genuine expressions during the shoot.
  • Keep it Short: Since dogs can become restless, plan for shorter photo sessions to capture their best side with minimal stress.
  • Stay Calm and Positive: Your dog can sense your emotions, so maintaining a relaxing atmosphere will encourage them to behave well during the family photo session.

What to pack?

- Leash and collar:  Harnesses tend to be big and bulky but I will use it if you are more comfortable.

- Treats:  Pack the good stuff.  High value treats can make everything so much easier.

- Water/Bowl: If the session is outdoors in the heat.

- Extra set of hands: If bringing multiple dogs or a dog who requires extra attention, consider bringing someone to help wrangle who is not in the photo shoot.

- Most importantly, patience.  Dogs all have their own personalities and quirks.  I am prepared for almost anything.
