Arrival & Session Timing

I will plan to arrive a little earlier than your scheduled time. Please do not stress - this is intentional. I like to come in, take a look around, and let any kids/pets become more familiar with me.

Sessions typically last 45-60 minutes depending on everyone's cooperation (and yes the little ones are the boss).

If babies or young children are part of the session:

- Please feed them beforehand.

- Plan the session around naps when possible.  Happy rested tiny humans make all the difference.

Where Photos Will Take Place

Once I arrive, I will do a quick walk though of your home and find the best light and space.

Most Winnipeg in-home lifestyle sessions take place in:

- the nursery

- the primary bedroom

- the living room

- any space where your family naturally likes to cozy up

I do not use studio lighting for lifestyle sessions. Everything is photographed using natural window light.

How to Prepare Your Home

Your home does not need spotless or styled like a magazine.

The biggest thing you can do in advance is a quick tidy:

- remove clutter you won't want to see in photos

- clear garbage, clothing, boxed or loose items in visible areas

- don't worry, you can toss things in a corner

Families with littles have stuff.  I am not there to judge. I promise.

Pets Are Family Too

Yes - Pets are always welcome in my shoots.

If you know me at all, you know I love animals. Please give me a heads up if:

- You have cats (I have allergies but can plan ahead)

- A pet needs extra space or time to warm up

- A furry family member isn't super friendly

We will work around everyone comfortably.

What to Wear

Keep it simple, loose and comfortable.

Lifestyle sessions involve a lot of cuddling, movement and sitting together - tight clothes make that hard.

Best choices:

- neutral soft colors

- comfortable fabrics

- bare feet are best

- coordinating outfits (not matching)

Neutral tones photograph beautifully and keep the focus on connection.

Outfit changes?  Sure, time permitting.

Extra Family Members

Short answer: no

In-home lifestyle sessions are intentionally focused on the bond between parent(s), child(ren) and pet(s). Spaces are often tight and keeping the session intimate allows for more, meaningful images.

Props

Please do not bring in props unless they are important and intentional.

For newborns, I will bring 1-2 wraps only.

Lifestyle sessions are about real moments using what you already have in your home. If you are looking for prop heavy or posed images, these are best suited for my studio sessions.
