Studio Family & Portrait Sessions
What to Expect & How to Prepare
My studio portrait sessions are designed to be timeless, refined and beautifully styled. Every detail - from wardrobe to posing - is intentional, allowing us to create images that feel elevated and classic and will stand the test of time.
Please review the following to help your session run smoothly and stress-free.
Studio Style & Aesthetic
My studio work focuses on:
- clean, neutral tones
- thoughtful, guided posing
- minimal distractions
- emotion through connection and body language
The result is classic imagery that feels editorial, elegant and enduring.
Wardrobe Guidance (Very Important)
Wardrobe plays a huge role in achieving the studio look you see throughout my work.
Recommended Colors
Stick to a simple, neutral palette:
- black
- white
- grey
- cream/ivory
- dark blue
These tones photograph beautifully and keep the focus on you, not the clothing.
If you prefer a fresh, clean look, stick with ALL white/cream/ivory
If you like the darker, moodier vibe, stick with ALL dark colors/black
What Works Best
- simple, well fitted clothing
- soft textures (knits, linen, cotton)
- layers for visual interest (blazers, cardigans, sweaters)
- bare feet or neutral footwear (no logos or colors)
What to Avoid
- bright or bold colors
- busy patterns and logos
- graphics, text and branding
- neon tones or heavy contrast
- distracting accessories
If you are unsure about and outfit, feel free to send a photo for guidance and/or bring options.
Styling Tips
- hair should be polished, soft and natural
- makeup should be clean and timeless (avoid heavy contour and trends)
- neutral, clean nails
- no tech like iwatches
The goal is a look and feel that will be just as beautiful in 10 years from now.
For Families
- coordinate, not "match"
- keep everyone within the same color palette
- when in doubt, SIMPLE photographs best
Children photograph nest in comfortable clothing that allows movement and is not fussy.
For Couples & Individuals
- choose outfits that make you feel confident and comfortable
- clean lines and structured pieces photograph exceptionally well
- bring clothing options
Session Flow
- sessions typically last an hour or so
- posing is fully guided - you do not have to have model experience
- expect a calm, fun pace with guidance throughout
Trust the process. Small adjustments make a big difference in refined portraiture.
Final Notes
- please arrive on time and ready to shoot (hair, makeup etc)
- relax, your job is to show up, be present and enjoy
I cannot wait to create something beautiful for you.
